This module is intended to develop students’ knowledge and self- creative expression within contemporary floral design. Students will gain an understanding of floral designs in a variety of contrasting countries, researching design techniques and investigating the specific styles and current design concepts of influential international floral artist and designers. A range of skills is also learned in order to aid and support the students’ intellectual research techniques, design theories and presentation skills required for the production of a comprehensive document and practical exhibition.
The module addresses practical styles of International floral artists, investigating the impact of social, cultural and economic implications for the range of contemporary wedding, sympathy, gift and studio exhibits. Students are given the opportunity to select a design brief/theme/ International designer appropriate to the style/concepts of contemporary floral designs. Creative expression and development of the students design sense will enable them to incorporate elements from International designs into their own work and critically appraise the contemporary design.
