This course aims to investigate a variety of disciplines of biological science and relate these to current issues of debate on the role of animal science in society and the application of cutting edge science to areas such as nutrition, breeding, reproductive technologies, health and disease management as applied to farm livestock, companion and zoo animals. The course will consist of lectures and discussions lead by a number of members of staff and visiting speakers. There will also be a series of debates on current topics which will be conducted by students presenting speeches for and against debating motions. There will be a strong emphasis on self-directed learning.
