This module develops CAD skills required to produce 2 and 3 dimensional plans and drawings in Master’s level design studio projects. Students improve the use of importing symbols and standard features together with plotting to scale. Site survey data is inputted into AutoCAD and computer models of the terrain is produced. 3D CAD drawings are transferred to the 3ds Max program and/or the appropriate rendering software for the production of photo-realist images and animated walkthroughs. This includes the use of lighting, materials and shadows. The creation of 3 dimensional drawings develops CAD skills further and allows comparisons with hand produced drawings of designs to be used in the presentations of advanced level studio projects.
